Get ready for a thrilling twist in the real estate game! The iconic Trump family is setting its sights on Australia's sunny shores, and specifically, the vibrant city of Surfers' Paradise.
Imagine a towering landmark, a super-sized Trump Tower, rising from the sandy beaches of Surfers' Paradise. Yes, you heard that right! The Trump family is reportedly considering a prime beachfront location, 3 Trickett Street, the former site of the Iluka tower, to construct an extraordinary supertower.
Gold Coast City Council sources have revealed to the Courier Mail that they are highly interested in any potential development by the Trump Organisation. But here's the catch: there has been no official application submitted to the council yet.
"We've seen preliminary plans with impressive renders, and you can't miss the golden Donald Trump figure on them. It's a signature feature of every Trump hotel, and this one is no exception," the sources said.
This isn't the first time this property has caught the Trump family's eye. It's the same developer, and the Trump Tower brand is set to make its mark on the Gold Coast.
The Trump family's interest in the Gold Coast dates back almost two decades. In 2008, developers George Raptis and Larry Matthews were close to sealing a deal with Donald Trump to build a similar supertower in Broadbeach. The proposed tower was to be an impressive 55 storeys, with nearly half dedicated to a Trump hotel, as reported by the Gold Coast Bulletin.
However, the economic turmoil of the Global Financial Crisis put a halt to those plans.
The original Trump Tower, a renowned multi-storey skyscraper, opened its doors on New York's prestigious Fifth Avenue in 1983. It has since become an iconic landmark and was the very stage where Mr. Trump announced his presidential candidacy in 2015.
The Trump Organisation has been approached for comment on this exciting development.
And this is the part most people miss: the potential impact of a Trump Tower on the Gold Coast's skyline and economy. What do you think? Will this project be a success, or is it too controversial? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
