The SMU fans' jubilation after their team's historic win over Miami was a sight to behold. But here's where it gets controversial: they decided to celebrate by throwing the goalposts into a fountain at Dallas Hall. While it's a common move after college football upsets, the city of Dallas being landlocked presented a unique challenge. Usually, the goalposts are dumped in a body of water, but the students didn't have an obvious place to do so. So, they chose a fountain near the stadium and outside Dallas Hall. Nobody was able to capture a video of the moment, but the goalposts likely will reside there for at least the day. Head coach Rhett Lashlee was notified of the goalposts leaving during his postgame press conference. His goal appears to be to get them off of SMU's campus and into other parts of the city. Plenty of people will be celebrating this one and would love to get in on the action. SMU's win over Miami was a much-needed one, as they had lost the previous week on the road against Wake Forest. This win puts them at 4-1 in conference play, still trailing Georgia Tech and Virginia. Both teams have yet to play on Saturday. Multiple other teams also have only one loss in the ACC. But this win was crucial for SMU's chances of making the ACC Championship and even the College Football Playoff. So, while the goalposts may be in the fountain, the celebration continues, and the team's future looks bright.
