Back in February of 2025, at UFC Fight Night 250, the MMA world was buzzing with anticipation for the clash between Magomedov and Page. It was a striking match made in heaven, or so we thought. Unfortunately, the fight didn't quite deliver the fireworks everyone expected. Page skillfully secured a unanimous decision victory.
Following the fight, Magomedov, who had previously been undefeated, revealed he was battling health issues that significantly impacted his performance. He's determined to show the world that a rematch would tell a completely different story.
Magomedov's plan is clear: he aims to return to the octagon next year, take on an opponent outside the top 15, then defeat someone ranked within the top 15. And then, the main event – a rematch with Michael Page. He wants to prove to the fans that his first showing was not representative of his capabilities.
"I want to prove to the fans that the first time I just failed to show what I'm capable of. I didn't show anything just because I wasn't able to do so because of health issues. It was just out of my control."
Since the loss to Page, Magomedov has bounced back with a Fight of the Night unanimous decision victory over Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC on ABC 9 in July. He also recently faced UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan in a grappling match at Hype FC in Armenia, which ended in a draw.
