Get ready for a cosmic comeback! Nike is about to unleash a stellar surprise with its new GT Future sneaker, and it's a blast from the past.
Remember the iconic 'Galaxy' theme that Nike introduced with the Air Foamposite One back in 2012? Well, it's making a grand return, and this time, it's not just a one-off.
The Milky Way Makeover
Nike's GT Future basketball sneaker is getting a full galactic treatment, and it's not just a simple remake. Designer Frank Cooke gave us a sneak peek at the 'Galaxy Aura' colorway, and it's a unique blend of green and orange shades with the signature starry graphics.
But here's where it gets interesting: this new GT Future isn't a carbon copy of the Air Foamposite One's look. Instead, it's a fresh take on the Galaxy theme, with a twist of its own.
A Glow-in-the-Dark Twist
Just like its predecessor, the upcoming GT Future is rumored to have a glow-in-the-dark rubber outsole, adding a fun, otherworldly touch.
And this is the part most people miss: Nike's Galaxy colorway has a rich history beyond the Air Foamposite One. It extended to signature sneakers of NBA legends like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant.
A Legacy of Legends
The Air Foamposite One has left an indelible mark, but the Galaxy theme has touched other iconic sneakers too. For instance, Nike reissued the Galaxy Air Foamposite One for All-Star Weekend in 2025, and in 2018, they released the 'Big Bang' version, also known as the 'Nebula' or 'Alternate Galaxy'.
The GT Future itself has an All-Star Weekend connection. It made its debut at the event in 2025, worn by Nike NIL athlete AJ Dybansta and rapper Wale, who later collaborated on his own GT Future design.
So, when can you get your hands on this cosmic creation? The GT Future Galaxy Aura is expected to hit stores this summer, retailing for $200.
