The Animated Ghostbusters Revival: A New Chapter Unveiled
In a world where animated reboots are becoming increasingly popular, Sony and Netflix's collaboration on an animated Ghostbusters movie has finally gained some traction. This project, which might have slipped your mind, is now making headlines with some exciting updates.
Unveiling the Creative Team
The untitled animated film has recently found its writer, Sam Jarvis, known for her work as a “dolfacewriter.” She joins the project after Yoni Brenner and Kristy Hall, who laid the foundation with their earlier script drafts. According to Jeff Sneider, the film will be directed by Kris Pearn, known for “The Tiger’s Apprentice.” This marks a fresh start for the Ghostbusters franchise, with a wholly new story to tell.
A Ghostly Perspective?
Sony first announced its animated Ghostbusters plans back in 2016, with an intriguing premise: telling the story from the ghosts’ perspective. While it’s unclear if this unique angle will be retained, Sony has been actively exploring new ways to bring Ghostbusters to life through animation. A Netflix series was also announced in 2022, with the studio, Flying Bark, known for “The Legend of Aang,” attached to the project. However, the connection between this animated movie and the series remains a mystery at this point.
The Future of Ghostbusters
And for fans eagerly awaiting the next live-action Ghostbusters movie after “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” there’s good news. Rumors suggest another live-action film is in the works, so the Ghostbusters universe is far from over. With Sony and Netflix’s tight partnership, these new ventures will undoubtedly find their way onto Netflix sooner rather than later.
So, what do you think? Are you excited for this animated take on Ghostbusters? And will it live up to the legacy of the original films? Let us know in the comments!
