The holiday spirit is alive and well at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel! 🎄🎶
Kempinski's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is a beloved tradition that kicked off the Christmas season in Accra with a bang! But this year, there's more to celebrate than just the holidays.
On November 30th, the hotel's gardens transformed into a magical venue, hosting a captivating event filled with music, speeches, and a special community spirit. The ceremony, a collaboration with Ambiance by Talata, was a true celebration of the festive season and a significant milestone: Kempinski's 10-year anniversary in the city.
General Manager Silvia Rajniak emphasized the importance of this event, stating, "Our annual tree lighting ceremony is a cherished tradition that brings people together. It's a time to strengthen bonds with our clients, friends, and families, and to spread hope, joy, and a sense of community." But here's where it gets personal... She added, "Kempinski has been a beacon of hospitality in Accra for a decade, and we are honored to call Ghana our home." A powerful message, indeed!
Talata Maldima-Provencal, CEO of Ambiance by Talata, shared her unique perspective on Christmas trees, revealing that they are more than just decorations; they symbolize presence and cherished memories. And this year's tree, themed "Christmas is Evergreen," truly embodies this sentiment. It features bubbles containing scented rituals made with local products, including Aloe Vera crafted by talented women from Northern Ghana. A beautiful tribute to local craftsmanship!
The collaboration between these two prestigious entities goes beyond the festive season. It aims to showcase the exquisite blend of African and Ghanaian artistry with global sophistication. As Maldima-Provencal noted, "Together, we've crafted a celebration that pays homage to elegance, heritage, and the memories we hold dear."
The event was a spectacular affair, with performances by renowned Highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena, gospel singer Anuonyam, Kwan Pa band, and students from Roman Ridge School. The crowd was captivated by the lively music and dance, creating an unforgettable festive ambiance.
Among the distinguished guests were Maame Efua Houadjeto, CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority, and Kofi Okyere Darko, Director of Diaspora Affairs at the office of the President. The presence of Kenyan Ambassador to Ghana, Colonel (rtd) Shem Ishahilidza Amadi, and Turkish Ambassador HE Huseyin Gungor added an international flair to the event. The management team from Roman Ridge School, led by Principal Valerie Mainoo, also graced the occasion.
As the ceremony concluded, one thing was clear: Kempinski's Tree Lighting Ceremony is more than just a holiday tradition. It's a celebration of community, culture, and the enduring spirit of Christmas. And this year, it served as a powerful reminder of the hotel's impact on Accra's hospitality scene over the past decade.
