A heartfelt tribute has been shared by Filomena Cozzolino, revealing the tragic cause of her father's death. Frank Cozzolino, an electrician and beloved figure on HGTV's Holmes on Homes, passed away at 56, leaving a profound impact on those who knew him.
Filomena's social media post, a touching memorial, confirmed the news of her father's passing on December 4th. She described him as a man of passion, empathy, and brutal honesty, who had faced the challenges of organ disease with unwavering integrity. A second chance at life was granted to him through organ donation in 2017, but sadly, his journey was not without complications.
"He fought through the struggles of organ disease and was granted a second chance at life in 2017 through the gift of organ donation," Filomena wrote, detailing her father's battle.
After receiving a second liver transplant this July, Cozzolino faced post-operation complications. Despite his resilience, he was eventually diagnosed with lymphoma, a diagnosis he refused to accept without a fight.
"He deliberated and decided that he would push through; he’d beaten the odds up to this point, he thought ‘the world isn’t getting rid of me this easily,'" Filomena shared, highlighting her father's unwavering spirit.
Cozzolino's story was featured across multiple episodes of Holmes Family Rescue Season 1 in 2022, where he opened up about his health struggles and the liver transplant that changed his life. At the time, he had made significant changes, downsizing his company and buying a home in need of renovations. His daughters, Alexandria and Filomena, sought help from Holmes to support their father's recovery.
In a 2022 episode, Cozzolino shared, "About 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with a very rare liver disease... I was basically told I had five years left on this liver. You need a liver or you’re going to die. It was like a truck had hit me." Despite this devastating news, he found a matching donor and underwent a successful transplant, a turning point in his journey.
However, in 2025, Cozzolino received the news that his liver disease had returned. Filomena's tribute captures the essence of her father's strength and determination, a man who pushed the boundaries of what was thought possible by his medical team, friends, and family.
"Daddy, you put up one hell of a fight. You are the strongest person I know, and I am grateful for the years we got to spend together on Earth. Now your battle is over and you can rest. We’ll all see you again," Filomena concluded, leaving a lasting impression of her father's legacy.
